Razer Kraken V3 X Review

Razerthink – The Razer Kraken V3 X is entry level wired gaming headset; the new Razer Kraken V3 X is the cheapest headset in their lineup to offer full Chroma RGB lighting support. The price is a $69 covered wired gaming headset that uses a USB connection exclusively. It works best on the PC and connects to consoles that work with generic USB audio like the PS4 and PS5. Inbox packaging, you get the headset itself, the code to download Razer’s essential 7.1 surround virtualization software, and some Razer Chroma manuals and stickers.

It is the second version of the cheaper Kraken X frame that Razer launched a few years ago. It’s not the worst gaming headset on the market, but every other Razer headset I’ve experienced over the last two years sounds better.  The headset is the first Razer headset to use the new, smaller, 40mm, TriForce drivers. The TriForce drivers first appeared in the BlackShark V2 and later, the Razer Kaira Pro. Both headsets use the TriForce 50mm driver variant, which sounds impressive. With deep bass, precise mids, and highs tuned to avoid fatigue over time. In Kraken V3 X, everything is gone.

Design

The Razer Kraken V3 X has a black finish similar to the Razer Kraken X, with metal surrounding the ear cups and a flexible sound microphone. But these headphones have customizable RGB lighting on the earplugs that you can adjust in the companion software to better suit your style. Design the ear cups have faux leather covering the outside with a fabric-like interior, which feels comfortable against the skin. For a headset at this price, the Kraken X is well made. Despite being made of lightweight plastic, the Razer Kraken V3 X feels very sturdy. In addition, the Hybrid-Fabric unit’s memory foam ear cups are very soft, and the headband is highly adjustable, fitting comfortably on my giant head.

You’ll find the flexible Razer Hyper Clear cardioid microphone on the left earcup. which is quite bent, with a volume knob and mute button. The Razer Kraken V3 X is acceptable to wear for long periods as it doesn’t get hot or warm with prolonged use. The audio cable isn’t detachable, though, so you’ll need to replace the headphones if they’re damaged.  The mute microphone button makes a spring-like sound when pressed. Finally, at the top, has a mark on the headband so you can see its height. The Razer Kraken V3 X has good stability. The Razer Kraken V3 X doesn’t fall off your head if you play games. The audio cable is also non-detachable, so the headphones can fall off your chair if they get caught in something.

Performance/Features

This headset uses a pair of Triforce 40mm drivers designed by Razer and delivers jarring distortion-free bass and decent sound across the audio spectrum. Though not as good as the BlackShark V2 and Razer Kaira Pro, from sweet, warm, husky lows to highs. The Razer Kraken V3 X has a hot and dark sound profile.

They provide a lot of explosions, which can help bring out the sound effects in your gameplay. However, they lack the electrifying low bass. The Razer Kraken V3 X has a slightly disappointing frequency response consistency. In addition, their bass and treble delivery may vary depending on fit, seal and positioning.

The Razer Kraken V3 X has decent stereo imaging performance.

In addition, their heavy group delay is below the audible threshold, which ensures tight bass and transparent treble. The left and right drivers are also perfectly matched in amplitude and frequency response, helping to accurately locate and localize objects such as sounds, instruments, and sound effects such as footsteps in a stereo image.

However, the correct driver is very mismatched in phase response. This mismatch may cause inaccuracies in the stereo image at specific frequencies. However, you may have a different experience. The microphone has excellent recording quality. Your voice sounds complete, natural, and transparent for those of you who want to experience recording quality using the Razer Kraken V3 X. These headphones are compatible with the 7.1 virtual surround sound feature through their companion software. However, you need to download the program and register your headphones to use it.

The Razer headset now available on the Razer website for US$69.99

Overall

The $69.99 headset sounds pretty good, especially if you remember downloading Razer’s 7.1 surround sound software. With better sound tuning, multiple loops in the ear cups, and the option of in-software microphone control, the Kraken V3 X would be a great product.

Boomy sound can be fun for gaming, and With the excellent performance of the microphone, you will be able to play games with crystal clear sound and setting with crystal clear audio.
