Razer Ornata V2 “Hybrid Theory”

Razerthink – Besides Mouse, the keyboard is one of the important input devices for PC users. The comfort of the keyboard will keep the user’s mood positive and even increase productivity in typing, especially gaming that requires input from the keyboard. One of the interesting gaming keyboards, because it is comfortable and responsive, is the Razer Ornata V2.

It is a keyboard with a hybrid system, which combines mechanical keys with membranes. So, the feel of typing on this keyboard is unique, which is clicky and light like a mechanical keyboard but feels like a membrane keyboard. The result of the combination is a fast and responsive typing process, but not noisy. The Razer Ornata V2 is a pretty decent full-sized gaming keyboard.

It replaces the Razer Ornata Chroma and comes with the same Razer Hybrid Mecha-Membrane switches. It is considered a hybrid between mechanical and rubber dome switches. Razer offers the same tactile feedback as mechanical switches, but they require power to actuate like some rubber dome switches. Apart from that, the keyboard is very sturdy, has full RGB lighting, dedicated media keys, and a wheel for volume control.

You can also set a macro to any key via the Razer Synapse 3 software. The Razer Ornata V2 is a keyboard that’s more for gaming. It has a unique Razer Hybrid Mecha-Membrane switch that combines the softness of a rubber dome and the clickiness of a mechanical switch.

A $99.99 keyboard with a few minor tweaks and one relatively large quality-of-life upgrade dedicated media keys. A few changes helped keep the Ornata feeling modern and competitive. They added refreshment rather than a true successor who didn’t quite compensate for the fact that the Ornata V2 didn’t offer the unique balance of quality and price the Ornata Chroma did on its debut.

Design

The build quality of the keyboard is pretty good and not much of an improvement over the previous Razer Ornata Chroma. The frame is still quality plastic and has a lot of flexibility, and you might even notice the chassis bending with a slight push of the button. The low-profile ABS keycaps feel very nice to the touch, and the keys are stable with no noticeable wobble. There are rubber feet under the keyboard.

As a result, it makes a great first impression despite not having too much of a premium build, especially when the RGB backlight is on. That pleather wrist was the star of the show. It even looks comfortable. And because it’s magnetic, you can quickly remove it for a smaller footprint if you want.

Feature

The additional features available on the Razer Ornata V2 make it stand out compared to the previous Razer Ornata Chroma. It now has dedicated media buttons and a dedicated wheel for volume. Like Chroma, you can also enable Game Mode to lock the Windows key with Fn+F10. Each key is macro-programmable, and there is also a Hypershift key that lets you access layers of both functions and keys.

In Razer’s own words, the Ornata V2 “combines the best of both worlds by providing a soft, cushioned touch for gaming comfort, along with crisp tactile clicks.” Those mid-height keycaps are another selling point. Their low profile allows for faster actuation, which means that your keystrokes are registered faster. And excellent pleather armrests make them perfect for shooters in the gaming realm.

Naturally, the buttons are also RGB illuminated with 16.8 million possible color combinations and can be programmed to your liking. A new volume scroll wheel above the scoreboard has been added to go with the dedicated media controls on the top right side. It’s one of the biggest improvements over the old Ornata Chroma; one does not have complete media control.

Finally, the Razer Ornata V2 is equipped with a cable groove at the base to direct the position of the cable. Either to the left, center or right. It will make it easier for us to make better cable arrangements so that the gaming or work desk can be neater.

Performance

Is the Razer Ornata V2 for gaming? Good answer, in general. It’s responsive and easy to use, with the keys at a comfortable distance from each other, so you don’t have to turn your hands into heavy shapes to press ctrl or shift. It is very useful for shooters like Valorant or other FPS games. This keyboard is easier to crouch in the game, drop, or run than other keyboards in its class.

Their feel for gaming or typing is just as satisfying. have a heavy ‘click’ but don’t annoy you. Typing quality is quite good. The switch offers a fine mix of the smoothness of a rubber dome switch with the click feedback of a mechanical switch. Unfortunately, the spacebar feels very shaky and vibrates. The keycaps don’t feel too bad for ABS plastic, though they don’t feel as good as PBT keycaps.

Price

The Razer Ornata V2 is now available on the Razer website for US$99.99

Overall

Overall, you can get the impression of being satisfied with the performance of this gaming keyboard. Starting from the feeling of the buttons being comfortable, not noisy, backlit, which is pleasing to the eye, and the lighting level can be adjusted easily, there is a soft pad for the palm rest. There are multimedia buttons and a volume wheel.
